Swedish Embassy in Zambia No Longer Grants Schengen Visas to 11 Countries It Represents

The Swedish Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia, which so far represented 11 other Schengen countries in terms of visa application processing and visa admission has announced that it will no longer process applications for these 11 countries.

Citizens of Zambia wishing to travel to Norway, France, Latvia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland or Belgium will have to contact the relevant authorities of these countries as Sweden has suspended the representation agreements with these countries.

Norway, France, Latvia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and Belgium have suspended the representation agreements, and the Embassy can therefore no longer process applications for Schengen Visas for these countries,” a notice published by the Embassy of Sweden in Zambia explains.

As per applicants who have already been granted with visas for Norway, they will, however, no longer be able to enter Norway, regardless of the length of the visa.

While the Embassy claims that it has yet not received any information on whether applicants who have already obtained visas to France, Latvia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and Belgium will be allowed to enter these countries, all these countries are already applying a ban on all non-EEA nationals as a measure against new Coronavirus infections coming in.

The ban has been applied by most of the countries listed above within the very first days after the decision was taken on March 17 between the EU Commission and the EU Council.

For those to whom travel to Norway, France, Latvia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland or Belgium is essential, they are advised to contact the following authorities according to the country they wish to visit.
