Nepal Government Announces Hike in Tourist Visa Fee

Following the Nepal Government’s decision, the Department of Immigration (DoI) has increased the Nepal visa fee with effect July 17, 2019

The government decided to increase the fees in May 2019 since the revision of visa fares has not been done for close to a decade.

However, the hike in the visa fee was minor and it will be revised again after the closure of the Visit Nepal Year (VNY) 2020 campaign, said DoI officials.

“Change in the visa fee structure for foreign tourists is necessary to make the fee contextual,” Eshor Raj Poudel, director general at Department of Immigration said.

“The government has set the revised visa fees between the price range of USD 5- USD 35. ”

Tourist Visa for 15 days with multiple entry is USD 30 as against the earlier fare of USD 25. Likewise, the tourist visa for 30 days has been increased to USD 50 from USD 40 and tourist visa for 90 days (multiple entry) has been hiked by USD 25 to USD 125.

“As per the department, the visa extension fee (within valid visa period) has been raised to $3 per day from $2 per day. Similarly, visa extension fee (with multiple entry) has been raised to additional $25 from additional $20,” the report said.

Likewise, the late fee on visa extension (after visa expiration) has been raised to $5 per day from $3 per day.
